My Fifteen Minutes of Fame: Being Interviewed by DJ TechTools

The past week has been nothing short of hectic. With spring break approaching, my professors were piling on assignments, projects, and midterms, and I felt like I was being run into the ground.

That is, until a celebrity DJ picked me up, dusted me off, and struck up a conversation.

Ean Golden, founder of DJ TechTools, a massive blog and web store dedicated to helping Digital DJ’s across the world, responded to my shot-in-the-dark email about getting my feet off the ground in DJ-saturated New York City. He was particularly interested in one particular detail in my email – DJs here often find themselves at the hands of promoters, and have to seDJTT articlell tickets to get – and keep –  their set times for venues. Ean spared no hesitation in directing me to his editor, Dan, and I shed some light on the scene here in NYC. I filled Dan in on the ins-and-outs of the situation, and rounded up some local DJs to share their experiences. HammerheadZ, Eckhaus, Statik, and Davvid were more than willing to contribute to the article. The guys at DJTT were extremely professional and friendly, and linked us to the article when it was published. As a courtesy, they even linked our Soundcloud accounts.

The article immediately went viral, and by the time I had my turn to share it, it had been seen on Facebook over 8000 times. Promoters and DJs across the world were responding and sharing it like wildfire. Check it out here.

I am extremely thankful to DJ TechTools for the feature. To all DJs in NYC and beyond, know your value.
